Hot and Cold Packs: Therapy Benefits
Hot and cold packs can be used to gently ease aches and pains related to everything from arthritis to sports injuries. A heating pack provides hot therapy by opening up blood vessels and encouraging blood flow, which helps to reduce pain and relax muscles. Applying hot therapy through a heating pack can be a very effective way to treat ongoing stiffness and pain. A cold pack, in contrast, provides cold therapy to slow down blood flow and reduce swelling. Cold therapy is most often used as a treatment for short-term bumps, sprains and strains.
Heating Pack Products
At Henry Ford Health Products, we carry several different types of hot and cold packs. Our convenient, disposable hot and cold packs (pictured to the left) can be instantly activated to provide immediate relief, and their portable design and function makes them easy to take along anywhere. These types of hot and cold packs contain ammonium nitrate and water, which provide soothing cooling action when the packet is activated by shaking it. We also carry several different reusable hot and cold packs that can either be stored in the freezer to use as a cold pack, or warmed in the microwave to use as a heating pack.
Our other heating pack products include everything from special neoprene wraps to provide added compression in heat or cold therapy, as well as flexible wraps that can be applied to any part of the body. We also offer moist heating pack products as well.
Medicare Claims for Heating Pack Supplies
If you qualify, many of our heating pack products can be partially covered by Medicare. At Henry Ford Health Products, we are happy to help submit both assigned and non-assigned claims on your behalf.
